In the early morning hours of Friday, May 2, 2025, gunshots shattered the peace in the 1800 block of Woodlawn Drive, leading to a tragic outcome for 28-year-old Elijah Lamback. When police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 12:30 a.m., they found a chaotic scene at the Azuz Hookah Lounge. Inside the establishment, officers discovered Lamback suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was one of four people who were shot during the incident, with a fifth individual sustaining a separate injury.
Emergency responders transported Lamback to a local hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Some reports indicate he was pronounced deceased on Saturday, May 3, 2025, while his obituary states his passing occurred on Sunday, May 4, 2025. The shooting, which began in the parking lot of a shopping center, also resulted in two other men being found with gunshot wounds at the scene, while two additional victims arrived at area hospitals independently.
The investigation into the death of Elijah Lamback is ongoing, and as of now, the search for the suspect or suspects continues. Authorities have not publicly identified any individuals involved in the shooting. In an effort to gather more information, Baltimore County detectives have urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered by Metro Crime Stoppers for information that could lead to an arrest. It was later revealed that the Azuz Hookah Lounge had been operating without the necessary county permits for a hookah and vapor lounge.
