On June 1, 2024, at approximately 11:05 p.m., 39-year-old Ein Martin Johnson Sr. was fatally shot in the 500 block of North Ohio Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. Responding officers discovered Johnson and two other individuals—a male and a female—suffering from gunshot wounds. All three victims were transported to local hospitals, where Johnson was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m. The other male victim remained in critical condition, while the female victim was reported in stable condition.
A fourth victim, another female, self-transported to a hospital and was also listed in stable condition.

Born on March 7, 1985, Johnson was known for his vibrant personality and community involvement. He attended East High School, where he played varsity tennis, soccer, and basketball. In 2016, he earned certifications in Janitorial Service Administration and Basic Business from Marion Technical College. In 2023, Johnson began working as a street mentor for Halt Violence, aiming to reduce violence in various Columbus communities. He is survived by his wife, Destiny (Simpkins) Johnson; children Donisty Poindexter, Ein Johnson Jr., Emonie Johnson, and Braylein Johnson; and granddaughter A’Miri Likely.
Funeral services were held on June 15, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church in Columbus, followed by interment at Greenlawn Cemetery.
