On February 5, 2023, at approximately 2:54 a.m., Columbus police officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 3300 block of Markham Road in south Columbus. Upon arrival, they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One of the victims, identified as 20-year-old Marchel Lamarion Rasheed Brooks, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center on February 7, 2023.
