On November 22, 2021, Derrick L. Samuels Jr., a 34-year-old Black male from Columbus, OH, was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound on the 4300 Block of Malin Dr. Officers arrived at the scene around 9:27 PM and rendered aid until Columbus Fire Medic #24 arrived. Despite receiving lifesaving medical treatment, Samuels succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Riverside Hospital at 12:49 AM.
