On March 23, 2023, 18-year-old Ariana Rosas was fatally shot in the parking lot behind Animas Valley Mall in Farmington, New Mexico. Rosas was sitting in a vehicle with her boyfriend, Vincent Amato, 23, when the incident occurred. Amato was also injured in the shooting, sustaining a gunshot wound to the arm and being pistol-whipped.
