On a late spring morning in Hobbs, New Mexico, a series of events unfolded that would tragically end the life of 25-year-old Jiovanny Eloy Morales, a Hispanic male. On May 28, 2023, at approximately 10:34 a.m., police responded to reports of gunfire at the intersection of Broadway and Grimes Streets. Upon their arrival, they discovered Morales with a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
