On October 26, 2016, Thomas J. May, a 32-year-old resident of Hobbs, New Mexico, was fatally shot in the 1100 block of Princess Jeanne Drive. May, born on November 13, 1983, to Leonard and Pam May, succumbed to his injuries after being shot five times.

The investigation into May's murder led to the identification of a suspect, Sammy Piñon Jr. Piñon, who was 32 years old at the time of the sentencing, was found guilty of the murder in a trial that concluded on October 30, 2018. The trial ...
