On December 10, 2018, at approximately 2:35 AM, officers from the Hobbs Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 300 block of East Sunset. Upon arrival, they discovered 38-year-old Esteban Chavez Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
