On December 10, 2018, at approximately 2:35 AM, officers from the Hobbs Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot victim in the 300 block of East Sunset. Upon arrival, they discovered 38-year-old Esteban Chavez Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The Hobbs Police Department immediately initiated an investigation into Chavez's death, treating it as a homicide.
Detectives conducted interviews, collected evidence, and canvassed the area for potential witnesses. Despite these efforts, information regarding suspects or motives remained limited.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Esteban Chavez Jr.'s death.
