The Clark County coroner's office confirmed that she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, ruling her death a suicide. Tobiasson, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, was known for her dedication to justice and community service.
Born on June 1, 1967, Tobiasson graduated from Bishop Gorman High School and earned her law degree from Pepperdine University.
She began her legal career as a deputy prosecutor for the Clark County District Attorney's Office. In 2009, she was appointed as a Las Vegas Justice of the Peace, a position she held until her resignation in 2021 amid an ethics investigation. The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline had alleged that she violated judicial conduct codes by becoming involved in a double murder investigation and associating with an organized crime figure.
Beyond her judicial duties, Tobiasson was a dedicated community volunteer, notably with the Trauma Intervention Program, where she provided support to individuals in crisis. She is survived by her husband, Murray 'Todd' Tobiasson, her daughter Sarah, her son Luke, her parents Madeleine and Don, her grandmother Donna, and a close-knit extended family. Her passing was a significant loss to the Las Vegas community, where she was respected for her commitment to justice and service.
Visitation and funeral services were held on January 31, 2023, at Palm Downtown Mortuary in Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, her family requested donations be made in her memory to the Heaven Can Wait Animal Society or the Animal Foundation, reflecting her love for animals and dedication to their welfare.
