In the early hours of February 4, 2023, a dispute between two teenagers in Las Vegas escalated to a fatal encounter, leaving 17-year-old Isaiah J. Langseth, a Black/African American male, dead from a gunshot wound. The events that led to the shooting began after both Langseth and another teenager, Antoine Anderson-Griffis, also 17, had attended a party and subsequently boarded a public bus.
Witnesses and video surveillance from the bus indicated that Langseth, who was reportedly
intoxicated, began causing a disturbance. After both teenagers exited the bus in the 4200 block of South Nellis Boulevard at approximately 1:30 a.m., their argument intensified. It was during this confrontation that Anderson-Griffis allegedly drew a pistol. Langseth is said to have reached for the weapon, at which point Anderson-Griffis fired, striking Langseth in the chest.
Emergency services transported Langseth to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at about 8:30 a.m. The Clark County coroner's office later confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest.
Following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department, Antoine Anderson-Griffis was arrested on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. He was subsequently charged with open murder in connection with Isaiah Langseth's death. Court records show that Anderson-Griffis was taken into custody and held on $100,000 bail.
