On a Saturday afternoon, the life of a Las Vegas teenager was tragically cut short. Jyion Marvin Lee Alston, a 17-year-old Black/African American male, was fatally shot in North Las Vegas on September 16, 2023. The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. in the 20 block of Webb Avenue, near Interstate 15 and West Owens Avenue. When officers from the North Las Vegas Police Department arrived at the scene in response to reports of a shooting, they discovered Alston suffering from multiple gunshot
wounds. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The Clark County Coroner's Office later confirmed that his death was a result of the multiple gunshot wounds he sustained.
In the initial stages of the investigation, law enforcement had not provided any information about potential suspects or the motive behind the shooting and appealed to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest. For months, the case remained without a publicly identified suspect. However, a significant development occurred on May 28, 2024, when it was reported that a 15-year-old had been charged with murder in connection with Alston's death. The suspect, who was 14 at the time of the incident, was identified only as Bradley due to his age. He was booked at the Clark County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of open murder with a deadly weapon.
According to reports, the shooting allegedly took place during a gun exchange at an apartment complex near Owens Avenue. The firearm used in the shooting was described as a "ghost gun." Prior to this arrest, the North Las Vegas Police Department had been actively seeking information from the public, urging anyone with knowledge about the crime to come forward and contact them or Crime Stoppers.
