On the night of November 27, 2023, a Hispanic male named Manuel Velasquez, age 71, died in his Las Vegas home. The evening took a tragic turn following a domestic dispute with his son.
At approximately 11:18 p.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a distressing 9-1-1 call. The dispatcher could overhear a heated argument and what sounded like a gunshot. Shortly after, two more calls came in.
One was from a man stating he had been shot, and another from a woman reporting that her son, 28-year-old Isaac Velasquez, had just shot her husband.
Upon arriving at the residence in the 9700 block of Horseback Circle, officers discovered Manuel Velasquez inside, suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel were unable to save him and pronounced him deceased at the scene. His son, Isaac, had fled the home before the police arrived.
A search of the neighborhood was promptly initiated, and officers located Isaac Velasquez hiding in a nearby yard. He was taken into custody without further incident. The investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated that a verbal altercation between father and son escalated, leading to the fatal shooting. Isaac Velasquez was subsequently booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder.
