On December 1, 2023, 57-year-old Timothy Bratton was fatally shot in the chest at a homeless encampment near East Charleston Boulevard and Sandhill Road in Las Vegas. Four other men at the encampment were also shot; one, 38-year-old Ashley Burnell, succumbed to a head wound on December 8, while the others survived.
Authorities arrested 31-year-old Cristobal Omar Perez and 21-year-old Kylee Au Young in connection with the shootings.
Investigations revealed that Perez allegedly approached the encampment and began shooting indiscriminately before fleeing in a vehicle driven by Au Young. The attack was reportedly premeditated, stemming from a dispute involving Perez's relative who lived nearby.
Both Perez and Au Young face multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder, and are being held without bail. Law enforcement continues to investigate the incident to determine if additional suspects were involved.
