Domingo Siri, a 30-year-old male, tragically lost his life on September 1, 2021, in Lubbock, Texas. Siri was fatally shot in the early morning hours in the 1600 block of 28th Street. Another victim, Cleotis Johnson, aged 20, was also shot but survived with moderate injuries.
The investigation into Siri's death revealed that the shooting was part of a drive-by incident.
Surveillance footage captured a dark-colored four-door passenger car driving westbound and firing shots towards Siri and Johnson. The car was later found to contain shell casings matching those from the crime scene.
In the course of the investigation, police identified Adam Villarreal, 19, and Catelyn Pina, 20, as suspects. Villarreal was already in custody on unrelated charges when he was served with a murder warrant. Pina turned herself in to authorities on October 5, 2022. Both suspects were linked to the crime through forensic evidence and cellphone records.
Pina claimed that she was driving Villarreal's car when another unidentified individual, who was also in the car, committed the shooting. However, forensic evidence indicated that both Villarreal and Pina were involved in the shootings. The investigation is ongoing, and the third suspect has not yet been identified or charged.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of multiple suspects and the drive-by nature of the crime. The Lubbock Police Department continues to work diligently to bring all responsible parties to justice.
