Body camera footage from Bott's arrest on May 16 captured him admitting to police that he had become infatuated with the young student. He described it as getting 'drunk on some sort of, whatever chemical that is in your brain that kind of makes you get infatuated with people.' Bott also acknowledged that his behavior was wrong, stating that if he were in the parents' shoes, he 'would want to kill somebody.'
The incident had a significant impact on the student involved, who reportedly felt unsafe and uncomfortable at school after receiving the notes from Bott. The case has since been dismissed due to Bott's death, but it has raised concerns about student safety and teacher conduct within the school district.
