Darian Alexander Gonzalez, a beloved 29-year-old father, son, and friend, was a man of many passions. Known affectionately as Dee and Holly, the Hispanic male was a dedicated music producer and rap artist who poured his heart into his craft. His obituary noted that beyond his music, he was an avid gamer and skilled guitarist with an outgoing personality and a big heart.
His greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his daughter, Skylar.
On the evening of January 2, 2024, a group of acquaintances gathered at Darian’s apartment in Las Vegas on North Torrey Pines Drive, where he had a recording studio. The gathering turned violent when Darian was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person at the apartment was also shot but survived with non-life-threatening injuries, having driven themself to a hospital. In the immediate aftermath, the other individuals who had been present fled before police arrived.
Investigators soon learned that the group’s initial story of being there for a music session was false. Evidence, including Instagram messages and social media videos, revealed a conspiracy to rob Darian of one of his firearms, an AR pistol. Messages sent between the conspirators after the shooting urged them to coordinate their stories, with one reading, “Don't mention nothing that happen.”
The investigation led to the arrests of six people: Prseyus Dennis, 18; David Valle, 18; Javier Galvan, 21; Juan Galvan, 18; Dewey Arredondo-Ramirez, 17; and Daisy Gonzalez, who was 15 at the time of the killing. Daisy Gonzalez, who was not related to the victim, was later certified to be tried as an adult. A Clark County grand jury indicted the group on charges including murder and robbery.
The case concluded when all six defendants accepted plea deals. Dewey Arredondo-Ramirez and David Valle were identified by attorneys as the shooters. They, along with Juan Galvan, pleaded guilty to charges including second-degree murder and robbery and were each sentenced to serve 14 to 45 years in prison.
The remaining three defendants pleaded guilty to lesser charges. Prseyus Dennis pleaded guilty to accessory to commit murder, while she and Daisy Gonzalez also pleaded guilty to charges including voluntary manslaughter and robbery. Javier Galvan also accepted a plea deal. In a final court hearing for the three, a judge sentenced Dennis, Javier Galvan, and Daisy Gonzalez to probation, closing the case after court proceedings that concluded in late 2024.
