In the late afternoon of August 29, 2024, the life of 19-year-old Khoice Mateo Robertson was tragically cut short in a shooting at the Cotton Creek apartment complex in east Las Vegas. Robertson was reportedly having a conversation with an individual outside an apartment in the 3100 block of East Desert Inn Road when he was shot. First responders found him inside the apartment with a gunshot wound and transported him to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Khoice, born on
May 8, 2005, was remembered as a resilient and loyal young man with big dreams. Described as a brother, a son, and a visionary, he was known for his ability to see the potential in others and for his unwavering support of those he cared about. His family recalled his energy and determination as an inspiration to those around him. He is survived by his mother and five older siblings.
The investigation into the shooting was conducted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Section. Witnesses reported seeing the shooter flee the scene by running through the apartment complex and jumping over a wall. The investigation led to the identification of a suspect, and on September 4, 2024, police arrested 18-year-old Ilana Ceniceros. She was subsequently booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon. While the precise motive and the full circumstances of the shooting have not been publicly disclosed, authorities believe Ceniceros was directly involved in Robertson's death.
