On the evening of September 20, 2023, a burst of violence outside a north Minneapolis bar abruptly ended the life of Antwan Terrell Eiland, a 29-year-old Black male. The incident unfolded at approximately 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the 4th Street Saloon, located on West Broadway Avenue. Officers who responded to reports of a shooting discovered Eiland suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts at the scene, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner later confirmed that Antwan Eiland’s death was a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds. In the chaotic moments of the shooting, another man was also struck by gunfire. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment for injuries that were described as not life-threatening.
