On October 31, 2023, at approximately 5 p.m., Brooklyn Park police responded to a shooting near the intersection of 73rd Avenue North and Zane Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers discovered two 16-year-old victims with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as Diriye Abdi Muhumed of Brooklyn Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.
