Mark Hortman, 58, a White male, was shot and killed in the early hours of June 14, 2025, inside the Brooklyn Park home he shared with his wife, Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, in the Minneapolis metro area. Police raced to the residence after an earlier pre-dawn attack in nearby Champlin left State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, gravely wounded.
