On the evening of July 31, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace in Saint Paul's Frogtown neighborhood, leaving a 33-year-old Black / African American man, Tirece Reed, fatally wounded. The incident, which marked the city's 15th homicide of the year, occurred just before 7 p.m. near the intersection of Charles Avenue and Galtier Street.
Responding to multiple 911 calls, police officers arrived to find Reed inside a parked vehicle, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his
torso. First responders immediately provided aid and transported him to Regions Hospital. Despite their efforts, Reed succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the victim as Tirece Reed of Inver Grove Heights. As of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the deadly shooting. The Saint Paul Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and is searching for the person or persons responsible for Reed's death. They have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to an arrest in the case.
