In the early hours of June 20, 2023, a violent encounter at a state park in Paola, Kansas, ended the life of 43-year-old Bryan Hendrickson, a White male from Edgerton. Emergency services were called to the Pintail Point Campground at Hillsdale State Park shortly after midnight following reports of a shooting and a stabbing.
