On June 20, 2023, 43-year-old Bryan Allen Hendrickson of Edgerton, Kansas, was fatally shot at Hillsdale State Park in Paola, Kansas. Emergency responders arrived at the Pintail Point Campground shortly after midnight, where they found Hendrickson with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual, a 53-year-old man from Overland Park, Kansas, was found with stab wounds, treated at a hospital, and later taken into custody.
