On June 29, 2023, at approximately 12:14 a.m., Topeka police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of SE Gilmore Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds. All three victims were transported to a local hospital, where 20-year-old Xavion E. Phannix was pronounced dead. The other two victims sustained injuries, one of which was considered life-threatening.
