On January 29, 2023, Kennedi Belton, a 15-year-old freshman at Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, lost her life in a tragic incident. She was attending a girls' sleepover at a residence on Curran Boulevard in the Little Woods community when the accident occurred. At approximately 1:40 p.m., while Kennedi was lying in a bed in one of the rooms, a gunshot was fired from an adjacent room, causing the bullet to go through the shared wall and strike her.
