On February 28, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred at the Anytime Fitness gym located in the 1500 block of South Union Street in Opelousas, Louisiana. The victim, identified as 34-year-old Harrison Bordenave of Opelousas, was shot once in the chest by the suspect, Jason Laday, also 34 and from Opelousas. The incident happened around 8 a.m., and despite life-saving measures performed by gym members and first responders, Bordenave's injuries were fatal.
