On April 15, 2023, Romero “Sparky” Watkins Jr., a 26-year-old native of Hammond, Louisiana, and a resident of Tickfaw, was fatally shot. The incident occurred in the early morning hours at the intersection of Wardline and Durbin Road in Hammond, Louisiana. When the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, they found Watkins Jr. deceased in the driver’s seat of his vehicle.
