On May 24, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 2400 block of 4th Avenue in Lake Charles, Louisiana, specifically to Huber Park, in reference to a shooting. The victim, Markell B. Jackson, an 18-year-old from Lake Charles, was found with a gunshot wound and was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
