In the summer of 2023, the life of 15-year-old Roderick Jones Jr., a male from Opelousas, Louisiana, was tragically cut short. On the evening of June 27th, Jones was at North City Park in Opelousas when he was shot. First responders found him wounded but still alive and transported him to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced brain dead and passed away three days later, on June 30, 2023, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
