On July 4, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at a 4th of July block party in the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood of Shreveport, Louisiana. The incident took place in the 2300 block of Jones Mabry Road, where over 200 people were gathered. Just before midnight, officers were dispatched to the area following reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found a chaotic scene with partygoers attempting to find safety after approximately 15 minutes of gunfire.
