On July 16, 2023, a deadly shooting occurred in the Opelousas area of Louisiana, resulting in the death of Malik A. White, a 21-year-old resident of Opelousas. The incident happened late Sunday night, just after 11:00 PM, near the intersection of Scattered Acres Road and I-49 South.
