On Father's Day, June 16, 2019, Joseph Stanley Boxie Jr., a 49-year-old man from Opelousas, Louisiana, was tragically killed in what authorities described as an execution-style murder at his home on Martin Luther King Drive. Boxie had just returned home when he was ambushed and fatally shot ten times with a modified AK-47 assault rifle. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, left him deceased at the scene.
