On a summer evening in Ville Platte, Louisiana, the life of a veteran law enforcement officer was brought to a sudden and violent end. Deputy Marshal Barry Giglio, a 63-year-old male, was fatally shot on July 31, 2023, while carrying out his duties. He was assisting the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office in serving a warrant at a home on West Beauregard Street as part of a drug investigation.
