In the late summer of 2023, the community of Ville Platte, Louisiana, was struck by tragedy with the death of Kelon Shemar Thomas, a 23-year-old Black male. On August 15, 2023, Thomas became a victim of gun violence, his life abruptly ended in an act that left many questions unanswered. The young man, known to some as 'Keke,' was a resident of the very town where his life was taken.
