In the small city of Ville Platte, Louisiana, the life of 31-year-old Cawaskee Ardoin, a Black male, was cut short on the evening of Wednesday, April 2, 2025. The Ville Platte Police Department reported that Ardoin was the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred at the Gabriel Villa Apartment Complex.
According to Police Chief A. Perry Thomas, officers were dispatched to the apartment complex on Lour Street following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they discovered that Ardoin had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Mercy Regional Hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
In the days following the shooting, the Ville Platte Police Department announced that an arrest had been made in connection with Ardoin's death.
