In what was determined to be a murder-suicide, 51-year-old Charlene Leslie Alderman, a White female, was tragically killed on May 19, 2017. Known to her loved ones as Leslie, she was discovered in her home on Spruce Avenue in Chesterfield County, Virginia, alongside her husband, Ewell Thomas Alderman Jr., who was also 51.
Authorities had been called to the residence to perform a welfare check at approximately 6:30 in the morning.
Upon entering the home, they found both Charlene and her husband deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Subsequent investigation by law enforcement revealed the grim details of the event. It was concluded that Ewell Alderman Jr. was the sole perpetrator in the incident. He had shot and killed his wife before turning the weapon on himself, taking his own life. As a result, there were no further suspects sought in connection with Charlene's death, and no arrests were made. The case was closed as a murder-suicide. The community was left to mourn the loss of Charlene, who was remembered as a cherished school bus driver in Chesterfield County.
