On July 31, 2023, 17-year-old A'Jaylus Jacaveon Harris of Shreveport, Louisiana, was fatally shot near the intersection of Poland Street and Alabama Avenue. Responding to reports of gunfire just before 5 a.m., authorities found Harris with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:53 a.m.
