In the summer of 2023, a Fourth of July block party in Shreveport, Louisiana, turned into a scene of tragedy and sorrow. Among the lives lost was that of 17-year-old Syncere Brown, a male whose life was cut short by gun violence. The annual celebration, a tradition in the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood, descended into chaos just before midnight, shattering the festive atmosphere with the sound of gunfire.
