Jacob Carter, a 32-year-old co-owner of the popular Tacoma bagel shop Howdy Bagel, was fatally shot on January 5, 2024, while on vacation in New Orleans, Louisiana. Carter was in the city with his husband, Daniel Blagovich, who is also the co-founder of Howdy Bagel. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Bourbon and Kerlerec Streets in the Marigny neighborhood, close to the French Quarter.
