On May 20, 2023, 17-year-old Anthony McBride was fatally shot in the 6000 block of Beechcraft Street in New Orleans East. Officers from the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) responded around 9:00 p.m. to reports of gunfire and found McBride with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
