On May 7, 2024, TodMonique Lashawna "Tommy" Joseph, a 38-year-old resident of LaPlace, Louisiana, lost her life to gun violence in Garyville, Louisiana. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when officers from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office (SJSO) responded to a double shooting in the area of South Fig and Sherman Walker streets.
