In the quiet community of St. Martinville, Louisiana, the life of 19-year-old Simone Robin was tragically cut short in early June of 2018. The young woman's body was discovered by authorities in the neighboring St. Landry Parish, where it was apparent she had been the victim of a homicide. Further investigation into the grim finding revealed a story of violence that began in a trailer in Catahoula.
It was there that Simone was shot and killed on a Thursday morning, a place that would later be intentionally set ablaze on a Saturday afternoon in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The investigation into Simone's death led the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office to identify several suspects. Brandon Bouttee, a 25-year-old from St. Martinville, was arrested and faced charges of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Initially, he was taken into custody for simple arson related to the fire at the trailer where Simone's life was taken. His bond was set at $1,050,000.
The circle of alleged conspirators widened as the investigation continued. Toby Bouttee, 22, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder, with his bond set at $100,000. The family connection to the crime became more pronounced with the arrest of Brandon Bouttee's 62-year-old grandfather, Donald Boutte, who faced charges of obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.
A fourth individual was implicated in the series of events leading to Simone's death. Britni Courville, a 28-year-old woman from Breaux Bridge, was arrested and charged with illegally supplying a felon with a firearm. Investigators learned that several weeks before the murder, Courville had purchased the gun for Brandon Bouttee, the man ultimately accused of killing Simone Robin.
