On June 2, 2024, Marcus Lydell Magee, a 49-year-old African American man, was found deceased at his residence in Avondale, Louisiana. He was a native of New Orleans and had been residing in Avondale at the time of his death. Marcus was a 1993 graduate of L.W. Higgins High School and was employed as a warehouse worker at Folgers Coffee. He was the father of Jamari Markell Magee and grandfather to Jelan and Jianni Magee. His passing was a significant loss to his family and the community.
