Jakeem Williams, 23, a Black male from Westwego, Louisiana, died in the early hours of September 1, 2025, after being shot outside a business in the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 90 in the Avondale area just east of Westwego. Deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office were called around 12:50 a.m. and found the 23-year-old on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
