In the late afternoon hours of June 4, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm in the 4300 block of Linwood Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana, leaving a 41-year-old man, Billy Doyle of Keithville, with multiple gunshot wounds. Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Doyle, a male, who had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shreveport Fire
Department.
The investigation into the homicide was swiftly undertaken by the Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit. Their efforts quickly identified two individuals as suspects in the fatal shooting. In the early morning hours of June 5th, a collaborative effort involving the Shreveport Police Special Response Team, the US Marshals Task Force, the Bossier City Police Special Response Team, and the Shreveport Police K9 Unit led to the arrest of the first suspect, 33-year-old Malcolm Morris. He was taken into custody and charged with one count of second-degree murder.
The search for the second suspect continued, and on the morning of June 7th, 30-year-old Deonza McClinton was apprehended. The Shreveport Police Special Response Team, with assistance from the Bossier City Police Department SRT, located and arrested McClinton without incident. He was identified by detectives as the second gunman involved in the shooting death of Billy Doyle. Following his arrest, McClinton also faced a charge of second-degree murder.
Subsequently, a Caddo Parish grand jury handed down indictments against both Malcolm Morris and Deonza McClinton for the second-degree murder of Billy Doyle. The case is now set to proceed through the judicial system, with both men facing the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence if convicted for their roles in the violent death of Billy Doyle. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released by authorities as the investigation and legal proceedings continue.
