In the afternoon hours of a Tuesday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a young life was tragically cut short by violence. Seventeen-year-old Tyrese Stewart, a male, was in the 3300 block of Dalton Street when gunfire erupted at approximately 4:21 p.m. The shooting took place near the corner of Dalton Street and North Acadian Thruway.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find a chaotic situation with numerous shell casings scattered in the area.
Stewart had sustained life-threatening injuries and was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Tyrese Stewart succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Baton Rouge Police Homicide Detectives immediately began an investigation into the fatal shooting. At the time of the initial reports, the motive behind the shooting and any potential suspects remained unknown to law enforcement. The investigation was ongoing as officers worked to process the evidence collected at the scene and appealed to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest.
