On June 12, 2024, 28-year-old African American woman Coriana Leggett was fatally shot in New Orleans East. The incident occurred around 3:58 p.m. in the 10800 block of Chef Menteur Highway. Upon arrival, New Orleans Police Department officers found Coriana Leggett unresponsive in the parking lot of a business. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:21 p.m.
