21 year old mother shot to death in broad daylight In the late afternoon of a sunny Tuesday in New Orleans on October 25, 2016, 21-year-old Kyrisha Seanae Armstrong was fatally wounded. An African-American female, she was a passenger in a gray vehicle parked on Virgilian Street in the Pines Village neighborhood. At approximately 3:25 p.m., an unidentified Black male opened fire on the car. Inside the vehicle with Armstrong were her boyfriend, Marion Moses, his brother, an unidentified male, and a 2-year-old child.
Despite the barrage of bullets, Armstrong was the only person struck, suffering a gunshot wound to her back.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting was fraught with additional complications. The ambulance transporting Armstrong to the hospital was involved in a collision with a pickup truck towing a boat. A second ambulance was dispatched and eventually got her to the hospital, but her injuries proved to be fatal, and she died later that day. At the scene of the shooting, investigators found numerous evidence markers, indicating the intensity of the gunfire.
In the hours following Kyrisha Armstrong's death, her boyfriend, 19-year-old Marion Moses, and his brother were arrested on obstruction of justice charges. Authorities accused the brothers of providing conflicting accounts of the shooting and of discarding the firearms they had used to return fire at their sister's assailant. Surveillance footage reportedly captured the two brothers firing back at the shooter. When questioned about the identity of the fourth man in the car, the brothers gave investigators two different names, further complicating the investigation. Despite these arrests, police have not publicly identified a suspect or a motive in the murder of Kyrisha Armstrong. The case remains open as authorities continue to hope for someone to come forward with information that could lead to an arrest for her killing.
