On September 5, 2010, 32-year-old Kaamilya Muhammad was tragically shot and killed during the Black Men of Labor's annual second-line parade in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kaamilya was standing with her two-year-old nephew and other children when three men began shooting into the crowd.
