On September 5, 2010, 32-year-old Kaamilya Muhammad was tragically shot and killed during the Black Men of Labor's annual second-line parade in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kaamilya was standing with her two-year-old nephew and other children when three men began shooting into the crowd. She was struck in the head and died at the scene, while four others sustained injuries, including three men who were grazed by bullets and a woman shot in the leg.
