Death by Force

On June 4, 2019, Nia Billy Lassai, a 21-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot in the 7200 block of Bunker Hill Road in New Orleans East. Emergency responders found her lying outside a residence, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death marked the second homicide on that street within a 48-hour period, following the fatal shooting of 38-year-old Nicholas Pierre nearby on June 2.
