On July 3, 2024, Carley Stokes, aged 81, and his wife, Beverly Ann Stokes, aged 75, residents of Mount Hermon, Louisiana, were fatally shot at their family home. The perpetrator of the crime was their grandson, 23-year-old Colby Stokes, also from Washington Parish.
